Where the story began

Double Magpie is my own brand for inspiration, with a positive edge and enjoyment of the everyday stuff!

Magpies to me, are very fascinating and colourful birds - look up close and there is a lot more than black and white. As the poem goes "1 for sorrow but 2 for joy" so a positive pair to see. I grew up in Newcastle, where the Magpies play at St James’s Park, so there is no more fitting a bird.

I take my inspiration from many sources - other people, quotes, pictures and of course my kids. I share them in the hope that at least one person finds some of it inspiring too.

Over the years I have become ever more fascinated in how we do things and struggle with change, where we cannot see differently to what we are used to. This prompts me to experiment with mental images and stories to help land difficult concepts.

Seeing how stories and ideas had impact as a leader, I began to formalise more thoughts and explore frameworks to help others think differently, ideally for themselves.

I can help you, your teams or your organisation think more playfully while tackling serious problems. Please just get in touch to explore. Details below.

Look forward to connecting.

Playful ideas under one roof

Double Magpie is my creative home and ‘umbrella’ for ideas, metaphors and stories that have shaped how I have lead for 3 decades.
